Venerable David Nwanekpe is a highly respected priest and the current rector of the Anglican Church of the Holy Spirit, Bronx New York, and a hospital chaplain serving in New York. With a distinguished background in the Anglican Church of Nigeria, he brings a wealth of experience and compassion to his role in providing spiritual care and support to his parishioners, the common man on the Street, patients, families, and healthcare staff.

Venerable Nwanekpe was ordained by Rt. Rev. Chijioke Oti, PhD, and quickly rose through the ecclesiastical ranks, becoming a Canon of the Cathedral Church of St. Mary Magdalene, Oguta. His exceptional service earned him appointments as Archdeacon on special duty and later as Archdeacon in the USA under the leadership of Rt. Rev. Dr. Felix Orji Diocese of the West was later appointed again by Rt. Rev. Kay Adebogun. Anglican Diocese of the Trinity.

In addition to his chaplaincy duties, Venerable Nwanekpe has held significant leadership roles within the Anglican Church, he was in 2023 December appointed by the Anglican Primate of all Nigeria Most Rev. Dr. Henry Ndukuba as  Chaplain of the CONNAM Council of Knights and Ladies. His ministry, which began in 2003, in the Anglican Diocese on The Niger .has been characterized by successful mission work and parish development across various regions.

Venerable Nwanekpe is also a prominent social media content creator, focusing on church traditions and liturgy, and hosts the TV program “PEW AND THE PULPIT” on Advent Cable Network Nigeria (ACNN). His dedication to Anglican traditions and his roles as a traditional priest, evangelist, and committed pastor are well recognized.

Academically accomplished, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, a Bachelor’s degree in Theology from Trinity Theological College, Umuahia, a Master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Resolution, From Imo State University, a Master’s degree in Theology from Ezekiel College of Theology, Certificate in Clinical Pastoral Education, from Maimonides, Brooklyn New York and a Diploma in Theology. He also possesses an honorary Doctor of Divinity.

Venerable Nwanekpe’s expertise as a hospital chaplain is complemented by his extensive pastoral experience and deep understanding of spiritual care in a medical setting. He is dedicated to offering compassionate support, addressing the emotional and spiritual needs of those he serves, and fostering a healing environment within the hospital.

Originating from Izombe in Oguta LGA of Imo State, Nigeria, Venerable Nwanekpe is a devoted husband and father of three children. His commitment to his family and faith underscores his dedication to leading a life of service and integrity.
